Here are some words from our old Buddies!

Being a buddy was an amazing experience in my academical journey. It was an opportunity for me to get to know lots of different and interesting people, meet new cultures, try new foods and party a lot! I really think you should just go for it and become a buddy! I promise you will not regret it 🙂

Diogo Teixeira – Ser buddy mudou a minha vida completamente.

Becoming a Buddy completely changed my life. I became more receptive to new cultures, I started traveling the world and even decided to go for an ERASMUS exchange. The people I’ve met, the experiences I’ve lived and the friends I’ve kept through this program is something that I value alot and am very grateful for.

I was buddy for the first time on my first year in ISCAP. I was lucky, I got a croatian and I loved it! We hanged out, visited, she tasted our food, I helped her with everything she needed! Also, in addition to my buddy, along the semester I was helping other incomings that needed portuguese stimulus. I still talk to them today, as if they were my seedlings. I was that this connection that was created will last and we will all see each other around!
Something that makes me feel rich in life, atleast for me, is to be able to travel, even if it’s not literally, meet new people from other cultures, makes us open new horizons and makes us more adaptable to diferent environments.

After doing Erasmus, when I came back to Portugal I felt like my intercultural encounters should not stop, in fact, it should increase and that’s when I found the buddy programme from comap.Being part of the buddy programme has made my intercultural experience even more spectacular. Helping others while befriending them is an amazing experience that you will take for life. Is almost as if you are on erasmus yourself without leaving Portugal. I met amazing people that taught me a lot and I’m sure I will rememeber forever!

I was a buddy for the first time in the second semester of my first year in ISCAP. I waas lucky to have a super funny dutch that instantly introduced me to the remaining dutch students. I also had the chance to meet a Bulgarian and one Polish that, just by hanging out with them, I got to know more of my city and my own country. With this experience, the meaning of the word “saudade” started to have a different meaning for me.

Being a buddy is to be able to travel without going away from your own country. Is to have a friend whom you’ll be able to show every corner of your country and make him fall in love.
Being a buddy is to be family when you need a hug, be friend when you need to go out, be a touristic guide to show the country, gastronomic guide to present the best dishes. Being a buddy is being a support.
Despite all this, you receive much more, despite perfecting your english and being a portuguese teacher, you get to know a new country, you gain a new friend and endless moment which you will remember forever.
For me, being a buddy is having your heart full every second, every hug, each time you say “I am here”.
You have a very important role in the life of people that decide to see a new country and it is so worth it. What are you waiting for to have a new friend?
